R & B crooner, John Legend has been named the Sexiest Man Alive 2019 by People Magazine and the news is shocking to him.
According to People, Legend has achieved a lot, from his buttery voice in his many songs like Preach and unparalleled skills to being a great husband and father, and deserves to join the list the list of Hollywood’s sexiest like Blake Shelton and Idris Elba.
The 40 year old music legend is the first African–American to win an Oscar, Grammy, Tony and Emmy awards. He won the Oscar in 2015 for co-writing the song “Glory” from the film “Selma.” He won the Tony Award for his co- producer work on “Jitney” and took home an Emmy as a producer on NBC’s live version of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” a project in which he also played the role of Jesus.
The singer told People Magazine that he had a mixed- reaction when he first heard about his newest title.
“I was excited, but I was a little scared at the same time because it’s a lot of pressure.
“Everyone’s going to be picking me apart to see if I’m sexy enough to hold this title. I’m also following Idris Elba, which is not fair and nice to me!”
Legend has two children with model-television host-cook-book author Chrissy Teigen whom he married in 2013. As the 2019 sexiest man alive, he said his wife is proud of him.
“I’ve finally impressed her,” he said.
Indeed his proud wife took to twitter page to edit her bio following the news, she now goes by, ” a de-motivational speaker currently sleeping with people’s sexiest man alive.”
However, Legend’s career has been marked by critical praise and achievements. His smoother vocals, musical prowess and piano skills makes him unique. He has become one of Hollywood‘s biggest stars while remaining as down-to-earth.
And the reason is…
But most importantly, he told People that his parents, including his dad taught him to remain humble and kind.
“My parents always taught me if you’re going to succeed in life, part of success is having humility,” he said.
2018 Sexiest Man Alive, Idris Elba took to his Twitter page to congratulate John Legend.
