Back from his almost two-year hiatus, Nigerian-American singer, Jidenna, marked a return to the music scene with the double release of 2 new singles, “Sufi Woman” and “Tribe”. He also accompanied them with a trailer for his upcoming sophomore album, “85 To Africa” which is due for release on August 23.
Building up to the album release, the artiste has dropped a music video for one of the singles, the fantastic “Tribe”. On the Hip Hop number, he sings about camaraderie and the friends in his life who have literally become his family, emphasizing how even those who isolate themselves still need to be a part of a tribe or collective at the end of the day.
The video directed by Alli Avital opens with Jidenna welcoming us into his home, introducing us to members of his tribe at a lively house gathering. Unsurprisingly, all the guests at the packed soirée look like there’s nowhere else they’d rather be.
After a couple of dance breaks, led by talented choreographer, Izzy Odigie, the camera then swings into a hazy studio bedroom, adorned with a stripper pole and a comfy bed, upon which Jidenna relaxes, dishing out his bars about solidarity.
