Jerry Stiller, Comedian and ‘Seinfeld’ Actor, Dies at 92

Jerry Stiller, veteran American comedian has passed away, five years after Anne Meara, his wife, died.

Ben Stiller, his son and U.S. actor/film producer took to his Twitter page on Monday to break the sad news. He also shared his late father’s picture and stated that the 92-year-old passed away from “natural causes.”

“I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes,” Ben wrote.

“He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad.”

Born in New York in 1927, the comedian, who frequently played frantic and angry, yet, contemplative and sympathetic characters, got honoured with a joint star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame alongside Meara, his wife.

After years of performing comedy with his wife of 62 years, who died in May 2015; Stiller became known for his role on Seinfeld as Frank Constanza and as Arthur Spooner in the comedy series The King Of Queens.

He appeared alongside his famous son in Zoolander and Zoolander 2. As well as Heavyweights, Hot Pursuit and The Heartbreak Kid.

Although he is widely known as a comedian, the late star also doubled as an actor and author with two books to his name including ‘Married to Laughter: A Love Story Featuring Anne Meara’.

Stiller met Meara at a New York casting call in 1953. The couple got married the following year.
