Scottish-born actor, Sean Connery, who rose to stardom as James Bond and became one of the movies’ most popular and enduring international stars, has passed away.
He died on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at the age of 90, just less than three months after celebrating his birthday.
BBC reports that Connery’s demise was disclosed by his family.
Connery, long regarded as one of the best actors to have portrayed the iconic spy, was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000.
For more than four decades, he was an audience favourite and one of the screen’s most reliable and distinctive leading men in the movie-making industry.
Even as Connery entered his seventh decade, his star power remained so strong that he was constantly in demand and handsomely remunerated. In 1999, he was selected as People magazine’s Sexiest Man of the Century, and from his 007 days to 1999’s Entrapment, his screen roles became more justified, as age seemed only to intensify his sex appeal and virility.
