American music-star, Alicia Keys has suffered her own insecurities and now she’s talking about it.
Following her interview and photo shoot with Allure magazine, the Girl on Fire crooner said in a social media post that she never felt comfortable in her skin and never felt like her opinion was valid.
She went on to encourage others with insecurity issues, saying that although it took her a while to embrace her skin, she’s in a better place.
“I’ve never felt comfortable in my skin,” she wrote. “I’ve never felt like I can depend on myself without having to check with 30 other people; to make sure that my opinion is valid. But now I do. I like the way that I feel right now, and it took quite a while to get to this place. ?? It’s a process… eventually you get there. Be proud of your journey even with all the insecurity… we’re getting closer to ourselves.”
In her cover shoot for the interview, Alicia Keys who has been heralded for pioneering the idea of going out without makeup despite being famous seems to have used light makeup.
In a 2017 interview with the magazine where she appeared without make up, she disclosed that she’s not anti-make up by any means.
“I’m not a slave to makeup. I’m not a slave to not wearing makeup either. I get to choose at [any] given moment. That’s my right,” she had said.
