“It wasn’t a kidnap attempt”-Teni clears the air on Rivers event

Nigerian artiste, Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, has cleared the air on the gunshots that disrupted her performance at a carnival which was held at Buguma Town, Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Earlier, Eelive reported that a viral video of the singer running off the stage at the event had surfaced.

Many had believed the that gunshot scare was a kidnap attempt on the uyo meyo crooner.

However, Teni has cleared the air. She refuted the claims that it was a kidnap attempt on her Instagram story on Monday. The entertainer wrote,

“It all happened so fast. There was no incidence of attempted kidnap.”

She futher revealed the cause of the scare. Teni
wrote, “A fight started out backstage and that led to a stampede.”

In a previous post, Teni had revealed that it could’ve been a different story but she was grateful to God.

The acting spokesman for the Rivers State police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident. She said,

“The police division there in Buguma has been mandated to fish out those behind the attack. We will ensure they are brought to book.”
