Nigerian music star, Davido has taken to social media to blast UK news paper, Daily Mail for calling him an American singer in their report.
The British news platform made the error when a picture of the singer partying with Chelsea football stars, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori who are of Nigerian descent surfaced. In the published article, Davido was described as an American singer.
Reacting to the error, Davido wrote on his Instagram page: “F*ck y’ll I’m Nigerian!! Hoe!!”
Although Davido is an American-born Nigeria, the singer has proved his love for Nigeria countless times, so we can boldly say he is a genuine Nigerian.
A lover of sports, Davido recently professed his love for footballer, Ronaldo and also expressed great delight in collaborating with sports bookmaker, AccessBET, who recently announced him as their official brand ambassador.
Reacting to the announcement, Davido said, “I’m a massive fan of Ronaldo and I also love boxing, so this partnership brings me closer to the things I have a passion for.
“I am particularly excited to be a part of this new journey and I am looking forward to working with Accessbet.”
Also known as “Omo Baba Olowo” (OBO) named after his debut studio album, the singer began his music career at the Oakwood University, and shot to stardom after releasing his second single Dami Duro in 2011. He released his debut studio album, Omo Baba Olowo on July 17, 2012. In 2017, he received the MOBO Awards for the Best African Act and became the first African to perform live at the awards. The following year, he became the first African-based artiste to receive the BET Awards on its main stage.
Apart from coming from a wealthy family, Davido also has a music label DMW which he founded in 2016 after signing a deal with Sony Music and also known as one of the charitable celebrities in Nigeria.
