I Have Never Felt Protected by African Men – Victoria Kimani

Kenyan singer and actress, Victoria Kimani has a word for African men! The singer who was previously signed to Nigerian Record Label, Chocolate City stated that she has never felt safe or protected by African men.

Expressing her grief at the ill treatment of women on her Twitter page, Kimani asserted that African men reduce their women constantly to suit their selfish purposes.

She made her point clear by stating that African women should not be reduced to punching bags, sex toys, ego boosters and servants.

“I can’t lie … have I ever felt safe or protected by African men? Nope,” Kimani tweeted.

“African men reduce their women … constantly. Break them down to a size that serves them only. Damned if I do & damned if I don’t. It’s in your Dna …. you can’t help it.

“African women are Not your punching bag…not your sex toy, not your ego boosters, not your servant and certainly, not your enemy.”

Victoria Kimani became the first female artiste to be signed by Chocolate City in 2012. She released her first single under the label, Mtoto, the Swahili word for “child”, in March 2013. The video was shot in Los Angeles.

The singer has been vocal on issues like male chauvinism and women empowerment in conjunction with the ONE Campaign. She collaborated with other African female singers, in the making of an inspirational song titled Strong Girl.
