I almost died before shooting ‘,King of Boys’ — Kemi Adetiba

Award-winning movie director, Kemi Adetiba, has revealed to fans that she almost died during the production of the much-anticipated sequel of fan-favorite movie, King of Boys.

Adetiba told the story of the struggles she faced during the film’s production via her verified Instagram page. She added that she almost lost her life back in 2020 following an illness that lasted for 7 months.

She also added that immediately after recovery she moved from the hospital straight to the movie set. 

Adetiba wrote,

“This is what dreams are made of. A lot of work has gone into this. After almost dying last year, and moving straight from the hospital (after being sick for almost 7 months) to the KOB 2 set only six weeks late. This moment feels like a dream that almost didn’t happen. That the devil tried to steal.”

The host turned director also commended all the people who put in the effort to make the movie production a success, and to the fans, she stated that she “prays we did you justice, and never let you down”.

Adetiba’s post is following the movie’s first official poster which has only fueled the anticipation for the King of Boys sequel. Following the success of the first movie, fans have been clamoring for a second part. Those cries were heard and now the fans have hopes for the movie’s speedy release.

The Kemi Adetiba directed movie will feature acts like Sola Sobowale, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Nse Ikpe Etim, Jide Kosoko, Efa Iwara, Osas Ighodaro, Reminisce, iLLBliss, and more.

The King of Boys sequel will be a Netflix original movie, the first from Nollywood. An official release date hasn’t been announced yet but it’s expected to be released sometime in 2021.
