Lawrence Franks, a U.S. rapper better known as Huey was reportedly shot and killed on Thursday night.
According to KTVI, the incident occurred just before 11:00 p.m. in front of a home in the 8100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard near Mable Avenue in his hometown of Kinloch.
Although Huey was rushed to a local hospital to get medical attention, he was later pronounced dead.
It was gathered that another victim from the scene of the shooting came to the Ferguson Police Department with a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital and treated for his injuries. He is expected to survive.
While there were as many as 10 people at the crime scene; Huey‘s killers are yet to be apprehended and identified.
Fans have poured out tributes and condolences to the family of the deceased. Huey’s Instagram profile says he was looking forward to shooting a music video Saturday for his new single.
The St.Louis hip hop star climbed the Billboard charts in 2006 with his debut single Pop, Lock & Drop It. He released his debut album Notebook Paper in 2007.
This comes barely five months after Bashar Jackson, a US rapper better known as Pop Smoke; was shot and killed in what appears to be a home invasion robbery.
The 20-year-old singer and songwriter was reported to have been shot dead, after his Hollywood Hills home was invaded by armed individuals.
