The 2022 Grammy Awards ceremony held on Sunday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, rather than New York and Los Angeles.
The show which was aired on the CBS Television Network and paramount+, saw American comedian, Trevor Noah, returned as host for the second year running.
The 2022 Grammys returned to normalcy after two years of postponed, remote, and cancelled award shows.
Nigerian singer, Wizkid, missed out on both categories he got nominations at the 2022 Grammys.
First of all, Wizkid got nomination in the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ category for ‘Essence’, his collaboration with Tems; but lost to Kidjo, the Beninese singer.
Also nominated in the category is ‘Pa Pa Pa’ by Femi Kuti and ‘Do Yourself’ by Angelique Kidjo and Burna Boy.
For the other category, Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos’; and ‘Legacy +’ by Femi and Made Kuti were up in the ‘Best Global Music Album’ category.
However, they missed out to Pakistani vocalist.
In 2020, Burna Boy won a Grammy award with his album ‘Twice As Tall’.
In 2021, Wizkid won a Grammy in 2021 for ‘Best Music Video’ following his work in Beyonce’s ‘Brown Skin Girl’.
Wizkid’s ‘Essence’, ft fellow singer, Tems, made history by being the first Nigerian song on the Billboard Hot 100; and Global 200 music chart in July.
