The BET Awards 2020 is going virtual for the first time today due to the coronavirus pandemic. Aside from the nominations, the show is jam-packed with the world’s biggest music stars.
Here is everything you need to know about the 20th edition of the BET awards.
How to watch
The BET (Black Entertainment Television) Awards will air Sunday, June 28 from 8-11 p.m. ET/PT on both CBS and BET. As well as another ViacomCBS network, BET Her, for cable subscribers, or you can stream using CBS All Access, which you can sign up for here.
The show will also simulcast LIVE at 01:00 WAT on June 29 making its international broadcast premiere on BET Africa (DStv Channel 129).

Host
This year’s award will be hosted by comedian and actress Amanda Seales. Seales is a comedian and creative visionary. You know her as, “Tiffany DuBois” of HBO’s Insecure and her debut stand up special, “I Be Knowin”. She is a former co-host on the daytime talk show, “The Real”, host of NBC’s “Bring the Funny,” creator/host of the hit live, and now virtual, music/comedy game show, “Smart Funny & Black”.
Performances
Alicia Keys, Roddy Ricch, Chloe X Halle, DaBaby, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Kane Brown, Lil Wayne, Megan Thee Stallion and Summer Walker are all set to perform during Sunday night’s broadcast.
BET Amplified Artistes Masego and Lonr will also join, with additional performances from D Smoke, Jonathan McReynolds, SiR, Usher and Wayne Brady.
Nominees
Drake leads the pack with six nominations at the show, followed closely by Megan Thee Stallion and Roddy Ricch, with five.
This year, Damini Ogulu, Nigerian Afrofusion artiste better known as Burna Boy, and Rema, fast-rising singer joins the 2020 BET Awards nominee list.

Honourees
Beyoncé will receive this year’s Humanitarian Award thanks to her efforts to fight racial inequality. Including her generosity during the coronavirus crisis and the strides made by her BeyGOOD initiative.
Additionally, the BET Awards will honour Nicolas Johnson, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, and D-Nice as the Shine a Light honorees; which recognizes exceptional resilience, ingenuity and creativity in the face of adversity. This year’s honorees demonstrate how art and education can unite and inspire even during the most challenging of times.
Another person to be recognized will be Assa Traoré, a French anti-racist activist, who has been selected as the International Global Good recipient, which recognizes those who use their platform for social responsibility and goodness while demonstrating a commitment to the welfare of the global Black community.
