This has been a big week for Nollywood actress Rita Dominic as La Femme Anjola, in which she acts and produces, premiered on Sunday and is hitting theatres tomorrow!
In the days leading up to the release of the Mildred Okwo-directed neo-noir film, eelive.ng caught up with Rita Dominic and asked her how she has been able to last so long in the film industry. The Nigerian film industry is notorious for chewing actors up and spitting them out. But Dominic is one of those actresses you can watch clips of on @yungnollywood and is still gracing the big screen.
Speaking on her time in the industry, Dominic said the secret to her success was “being open”. She said, “I always go on set willing to learn new things because the moment you believe you are too much or you know everything, that is the beginning of your downfall.”

Dominic, who has been in Nollywood for over two decades; said, “You have to constantly see the need to grow in your art and in yourself. When I go on a set, I’m not going as someone who has been acting for twenty-something years. I go and learn from everyone. It really helps to keep an open mind. And I love to learn new things.”
Dominic, who plays the mysterious nightclub singer Anjola, also said she is very “particular” about the scripts she accepts. “I go for roles that stretch me. I think that is every actor’s prayer; to find a role that will challenge them and show their range.”
And as someone who has played everything from good girl to gangster, Dominic’s advice is one to keep close at heart. La Femme Anjola is hitting cinemas on Friday. Check it out at theatres near you to start your weekend on a high note.
