How Nigeria’s Music Industry Tried to Silence me -Tolanibaj

Former BBNaija housemate, Tolani Shobajo otherwise known as Tolanibaj, in a series of tweets, disclosed how the music industry in Nigeria tried to silence her.

While reacting to stories of employers who are notorious for owing salaries, Tolanibaj said she’s also a victim of such situation, as she revealed that she was sacked in spite of being owed for several months.

The reality TV star further said the music industry wasn’t fair to her, adding that stakeholders in the entertainment sector made conscious efforts to hide the main reason she was fired.

“Yes! Thank you for speaking up. I got fired from a record label here in Nigeria for speaking up for my rights. I was owed for months & I stopped going to work & pled via email for my money. The music industry tried to silence me by trying to hide the MAIN reason why I got fired,” she stated.

Tolanibaj has been in the music industry prior to her time at the BBNaija show. She worked as an Artist and Repertoire (A&R).

The entertainment companies she had worked for include, Universal Music Group, a record label that houses music stars like – Lady Gaga, Mr Eazi, and Jay Z.

Her A&R portfolio also extended to Aristocrats Records, the record label that discovered Burna Boy, amongst other Nigerian stars.

Tolanibaj was however later fired from Universal Music Group for alleged misconduct, but she claimed the music firm lacks direction.
