Nollywood indigenous actor, Tayo Amokade popularly known as Ijebu, has revealed that he started his acting career by running errands for his colleagues in the industry.

In a recently-held interview, Ijebu said one of the many challenges he faced when he was undergoing training in his journey to becoming a professional actor was buying food for people.

According to the actor, he wasn’t only buying food for people older than him, but buying food for people he was older than.

“I faced different challenges when I first got into the industry. On the other hand, I won’t really call them challenges because one needs to undergo some form of training.

“When I was in Ibadan, I trained at the Authentic School of Drama owned by actor and filmmaker, Muyiwa Ademola. I trained under him for seven years. He trained me on camera movements, facing the crowd and other things. The training helped me a lot.

“One of the challenges I faced was having to buy food for people that I knew I was older than just because they got into the industry before me,” he was quoted as saying.

Having highlighted what he went through, the popular role interpreter, however, advised that anyone aspiring to become successful as an actor must be patient, focused, and prayerful.

Ijebu said, “I said on my Instagram Live video recently that anybody coming into the industry has to be patient, focused and prayerful. One could spend 10 years in the industry without succeeding and one may spend only six months and people would like you. You also need to be humble.”

Just like others who have risen to stardom in their chosen fields, Ijebu wasn’t devoid of challenges when he started. Interestingly, patience made him rise above the encountered difficulties.

If you are facing some life challenges, particularly career-related, patience and dedication might just be the key for you to triumph.
