Pastor-cum-actor, Jimmy Odukoya who is a son to the late relationship coach and pastor, Bimbo Odukoya, caressed stardom when he played a remarkable role in the television series, Husbands of Lagos.

In a recent Interview with actress and presenter, Iretiola Doyle; the actor narrated how he got into the make belief world of movies.

According to him, it all started from his father’s church where he met Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot.

“They were doing a movie for my church, Desmond Elliot, Femi Jacobs and Arinze and I said ‘give me a role’. So they gave me a good boy role and I told them I wanted something else and they gave me the antagonist role, of a drug boy who lost his drug and had to find it. I had no idea what it was but I said I could do it. Afterwards, Desmond said ‘you are a very good actor’ and I told him if anything came up and I had the time, I would do it.

“The second movie I acted in was Baby Shower featuring Mary Remmy Njoku, Nino B, and Desmond Elliot. After the movie, Mary collected my number but I didn’t know who she at the time. She later called me and told me that there was a show called Husbands of Lagos; and that she wanted to make me a husband. While I was doing that, I got a call for Guy Man.”

Jimmy Odukoya also revealed how he has been able to handle criticism and kissing scenes as a pastor’s child.

“When I first started acting, I said to myself that I would not do any kissing scene; but rather fake it so well that people would not know I was not kissing. However, perception is reality. Even if I was faking a kiss, people would still think I was kissing. So, I had a conversation with my dad and he told me there was a professional way to do it; that I did not have to stick my tongue out. That conversation actually gave me liberty,” he revealed.

Odukoya has featured in over 20 Nigerian movies like Celebrity Marriage, A Lot Like Love, Love In Sight, Baby Palaver, Cooked Up Love, and The Bling Lagosians amongst others.
