Nigerian-Ghanian artist Diseye Tantua is proving his skill as a functional sculptor by salvaging scraps from vehicle parts and transforming them into artistic household furniture.
Tantua, who piqued interest in sculptural art in 2016 had no clue such adventure would catapult him into limelight.
Driven by quest to sustain his late father’s legacies, he began his journey after his first work fetched him commendations from a number of people; he decided to give life to classic cars while also tackling environmental pollution.
“I want people to remember me as the artist who gave them the alternative to dumping their cars in curbing environmental pollution,” he said.
Although, Tantua, who claims to be the first functional sculptor said his works are driven by love, passion and creativity.
However, he continued that along the way he realised he was contributing to the environment; saving the planet and giving life to classic cars.
This is yet another instance of several Nigerians who have risen to spotlight with their novel ideas.
