Today seems to be the day for Twitter South Africans as they have taken to the mini-blogging platform to attack indigenous rapper, Cassper Nyovest, for being “an unpatriotic citizen”; this is coming after they blasted Beyonce for allegedly shooting a copycat music video of “Spirit” in her Lion King album.
Cassper Nyovest made this declaration just after a Nigerian fan praised him for his great talent and realness. According to the Twitter user, he wished Nyovest was from Nigeria because he is known for “always speaking the truth”, which Nigerians are supposedly known for.
The rapper replied saying he also wished he was a Nigerian, considering the unity and support in the music industry.
“Won’t even lie. I wish i was from Nigeria too. The love they have for their own artists, the way they celebrate their culture, 90% local content on radio and Tv, there way they celebrate their music no matter where they are in the world, the unity within thier industry. A DREAM!,” he said.

While many Nigerians celebrated him for showing such love for Nigeria, some South African social media users were not pleased by his unpatriotic tweet against his homeland.

Do south africa have any reasonable music to play in clubs? All the countries in Africa play Nigerian music cos we are number 1 in that aspect. Put some respect on our name.
