Gossip Girl is back! Watch the trailer here

Gossip Girl

Yes, Gossip Girl is back with a new trailer from HBO Max, giving us a hint of what to expect from this remake.

Now set in the age of social media, with an edgier and younger generation. I mean, what could possibly go wrong. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, who created the original series for the CW, are back as executive producers.

The show runner for the reboot is Joshua Safran, who was an executive producer for the last two seasons of the original Gossip Girl.

Let’s talk the trailer

A new girl moves to a new town, joins a new school and the popular group lets her in. However, they realize she might not be as innocent as she seems to be.

In this remake, Gossip Girl is brought to life in the form of an anonymous Instagram account because, why not. We get to see parties, fashion shows, a threesome and enough kisses to pique our collective interests.

The official synopsis of the reboot reads,

“Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl.”

“The prestige series will address just how much social media — and the landscape of New York itself — has changed in the intervening years.”

The original Gossip Girl aired for six seasons (2007–2012) on The CW. The show also helped launch the careers of a number of its stars. With the likes of Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley and Chace Crawford all moving on to better things after it ended.

Gossip Girl premieres on HBO Max on July 8.
