Popular gospel artiste, Lanre Teriba, aka Atorise has escaped death after a violently attack over the weekend. His attackers, whom the police suspect to be herdsmen, are currently unidentified.
According to sources, some gunmen attacked the singer over the weekend in Lagos. The incident happened on Saturday night at the Berger end of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
At the time, the singer was returning from a wedding reception at which he had performed.
Sources gathered that the singer is presently receiving treatment in a hospital in Lagos; as he suffered severe injuries on his head and neck region.
Speaking about the attack from his hospital bed, Atorise reportedly believes that the fact he is still alive is nothing short of a miracle.
He added that he only regained consciousness after he arrived at the hospital from the scene of the attack. Atorise had passed out earlier from the blunt force trauma his assaulters inflicted on him; after which left him for dead.
The singer had only just recently released a song titled: Why The Killings; where he lamented the state of insecurity in the country. In the song, Atorise campaigned against the unending cases of kidnapping and wanton killings.
He particularly focused on suspected Fulani herdsmen allegedly responsible for the various reported cases of killing in the country in the name of religion.
