Golden Globes Postponed Until February 2021

the Golden Globes

The Golden Globes, like the BAFTAs and Oscars, will now take place a little later than usual next year. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association and NBC on Monday announced the 78th annual Golden Globe Awards will take place February 28, 2021.

The awards show, which honours the best in film and television, usually takes place in early January 2021; according to a release. As previously announced, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, are still going to host the show.

February 28, 2021, was actually the original date for the Oscars. However, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences last week announced that they were delaying the show until April. This is due to the coronavirus pandemic that has essentially affected every level of the movie business’s infrastructure.

All live concerts have made way for virtual ones, including the annual music festival Coachella; which many people were actually looking forward to. The comedy industry and cinema industry are also victims of coronavirus restrictions all over the world.

Following the Academy’s move, other pillars of Hollywood’s awards season have also changed dates. The British Academy Film Awards last week said it would move dates. The BAFTAS, which traditionally hold two weeks prior to the Academy Awards, will now take place on the 11th of April 2021.
