Veteran comedian Ali Baba elaborates on the positive things that the coronavirus pandemic will bring. In an interview with Channels TV Entertainment, Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome popularly called Ali Baba spoke on how Nigerians will be after the COVID-19 pandemic passes.
In the interview, he said that people would know the relevance of hygiene as well as the importance of socialising. According to him, after the lockdown, “we will not take the relationships we have for granted. So you now know how important those relationships were”.
“We also then understand the need to diversify the economy,” he continued. “At a time, we were selling oil for about $130 per barrel… The things we should have invested in, we did not. So this COVID pandemic has opened our eyes to some of these things”
The veteran funnyman then shared his hopes for Nigeria following the pandemic. He said, “I hope that will all these things going on, there will be readjustment. I hope we learn to focus on the things that will get us out of it; because the downtime now is heavy.”
The coronavirus pandemic has indeed highlighted a lot of weaknesses in the systems in place all over the world. Like Ali Baba, we hope COVID-19 acts as a learning curve for the government and Nigerians, in general, to get our priorities right.
