From Coronavirus to BBN: Top Trending Searches on Google in 2020

As the year winds up, Google, in its annual ‘Year in Search’ publication has released the list of top online searches by Nigerians in 2020.

This year’s trending news search shows that the Coronavirus pandemic ranked first. It was followed by US election, US president-elect, Joe Biden and others.

“Coronoavirus was top of everyone’s minds this year and the pandemic’s impact is reflected in the year in Search lists. Pandemic notwithstanding, Nigerians interest in celebrities, music, movies and TV shows showed itself strongly again in this year’s Year in Search lists,” Google said in a statement.

The list also included top trending people, movies/TV shows and songs amongst other things.

It is indeed a big year for 2020 Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) winner Laycon and ex-housemates Nengi and Erica as the trio landed on this year’s list.
