Four Nigerian musicians nominated for 2022 NAACP Awards

Nigerian musicians, Wizkid, Fireboy, Tiwa Savage and Omah Lay were nominated for the NAACP Image Awards organised by the National Association for Advancement of Coloured People on Tuesday.

The musicians were nominated in the Outstanding International Song category.

The 2022 NAACP Image Awards were announced in a virtual event on NAACP’s Instagram channel. It was hosted by  Hollywood actors Kyla Pratt and Marcus Scribner and singer, Tinashe.

Ayomide Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid was nominated for his hit song remix “Essence”, featuring Tems and Justin Bieber.

 Adedamola Adefolahan, known professionally as Fireboy DML was nominated for his hit song, “Peru”.

Tiwa Savage on the other hand, was nominated for her song ‘Somebody’s Son, featuring Brandy. While Omah Lay received his nomination for his song, “Understand” .

The winners of the award will be announced during the two-hour live television special. The award show is going to be hosted by seven-time NAACP Image Awards winner, Anthony Anderson. And it will air on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 8:00 PM ET/PT on BET.
