Nigerian highlife singer, Chinedu Okoli, better known by his stage name, Flavour, has opened a school for the blind in Liberia in honour of his blind friend, Semah G. Weifur.
Flavour, 35, shared a picture announcing the feat via an Instagram post on Monday.
“Semah’s School in Liberia #schoolfortheblind,” he wrote.
Flavour met Semah in 2017 and was impressed by the youngster’s rendition of his iconic single, ‘Mama’ at a peace concert organized by Liberian singer, Juli Endee.
Flavour then featured him on ‘Most High,’ a gospel track off his fifth studio album, Ijele – The Traveler.
The ‘Oyi’ crooner has since adopted the boy as a member of his family.
Semah was born blind. For years, he has been in the care of Monrovia-based NGO, Christian Association of the Blind (CAB). Life hasn’t been kind to him but young Semah hasn’t allowed that kill his spirit. In spite of his circumstances, Semah’s dream is to become a singer. Incredibly, even though he grew up over 2,000 km away from Lagos, he built a love for two of the greatest musicians the continent has ever seen.
