Inasmuch as fashion is an expression of one’s self and like art, puts no limit to one’s imagination, there are some lines however that should be approached with caution or avoided altogether.
When it comes to men’s fashion, a mismatched accessory can ruin a perfect plan. It could be the socks on sandals or the dreary suspenders and belt. Whatever it is, our advice is that you should keep it simple, particularly if you don’t have plans to set a new pace or create a new trend.
In case you are wondering what are those fashion pitfalls, here are five fashion blunders every man should never, we repeat, never commit.
Socks on Sandals
This might be the holy grail of fashion don’ts. The purpose of sandals is to leave your feet exposed; it’s apparent in the design. Unless you’re heading back to primary school for a brief stint, never wear socks with sandals.
Pattern on Pattern
Less is more because there’s beauty in simplicity. A patterned top or trouser draws attention, which is why either the top or the trouser should be paired with a plain colored top or trousers. Pattern on pattern is hard for the eyes to digest.
Undersized clothes
Pulling off oversized clothes is quite easy. But undersized clothes is never a good luck. It will leave you looking like you hit a growth spurt before you had time to buy new clothes.
Suspenders and belt
Like socks and sandals, these are two items that should never be on your body at the same time. Because they serve the same purpose, they are interchangeable, depending on the look you’re trying to pull off.
Tucking in without a belt
This is your chance to wear suspenders. Unless you’re wearing beltless trousers, avoid tucking in without a belt. It will always make your chosen outfit look incomplete.
