Nigerian filmmaker and founder of the Abuja International Film Festival, Fidelis Duker has emerged as the Secretary-General of Federation of Pan African Filmmakers (FEPACI). The organisation brings film makers from the West African Region together to develop the movie industry and ensure it is used as a tool to drive good governance and development of the region.
Duker who is also proprietor of Fad FM located at Calabar, Cross Rivers State, made a post on social media announcing re-election alongside a picture he took with other members of FEPACI from other countries.
“I have just been re-elected the Regional Secretary General for West Africa (Ghana, Benin, Burkina Faso , Togo, Cote D Voire, Niger and Nigeria) of the Federation of Pan African Filmmakers (FEPACI) at the 50th edition of the Pan African film Festival(FESPACO) In an election where I won with 42 votes to 2 votes ahead of the candidate from Benin republic. 44 nations voted.
FEPACI was established 49 years ago by legendary African filmmakers like Ousmane Sembane. The Federation’ is headquartered in Ougadogou in Burkina Faso with observer status at the African Union.
