Florence Otedola popularly known as DJ Cuppy started a charity foundation recently, known as the Cuppy Foundation. The aim of the foundation is to improve the welfare of Nigeria’s vulnerable and marginalized children. It would also focus on early childhood education and healthcare among numerous other programmes.
The Cuppy foundation held a gala in Abuja, tagged “Save the Children” aimed at raising funds and awareness for the cause.
Nigerian Billionaire, Femi Otedola, blew Nigerians away by donating 5bn to the ‘Save the Children Fund’ through DJ Cuppy‘s foundation. The Billionaire who was represented by his eldest daughter, Tolani made the announcement during the event. Afterwards, he made a speech himself.
“God has been so kind to me in life and I feel highly privileged. The only way I can show my gratitude to Him is to use my resources to support those who are underprivileged. This I intend to do for the rest of my life,” he said.
Also, Africa‘s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote donated #100 million for the foundation. The business man encouraged guests to emulate Otedola by giving back to the needy. He also thanked Cuppy for having a big heart and for visiting the children in the Northern area of Nigeria.
According to Cuppy, she started the foundation as a way of giving back to the less fortunate. She added that her foundation was inspired by a trip to Maiduguri, Borno state in Nigeria.
In attendance was Vice President Prof. Yemi Osibanjo; Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Governor of Ogun State, Dr. Dapo Abiodun and many other eminent dignitaries.
