The release of Beyonce’s album got the whole world buzzing, Africans especially, because of the unique blend of African talent on the body of work.
Many have taken to social media to laud Queen Bey for once again proving her musical prowess and creating global platforms for African artistes like Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Mr. Eazi, Shatta Wale, Tekno and Burna Boy among others.
Watch the touching mashup video of “Brown Skin Girl” she shared recently.
Right now however, the internet is buzzing with troubling talk as South Africans are blasting the songstress for allegedly copying a South African artiste, Petite Noir’s visual album; “La Maison Noir: The Gift and the Curse” for her “Spirit” video.
A twitter user identified as @justice_mukheli started the comparison when he took snapshots from both music videos and posted them side by side; since then, twitter users have expressed their views on the comparison, many of which are criticisms.
See some reactions below:
The ridiculousness of how bluntly @Beyonce chopped @PETITE_NOIR work is beyond my comprehension. Frame for frame 🥺💔 pic.twitter.com/nrQqvSNIHQ

In a continent where we have not ripped the benefits of our art and culture, we cannot speak of inspiring others. In American law, it’s called inspiration but in our law it’s Copyright and we should point it out.
