Ashanti celebrated her 40th birthday in grand fashion—literally! The Grammy-winning artist turned 40 on October 13 and chose to celebrate the milestone while enjoying the sun, sea and sand in the two-island state.

Like a true celebrity, she commemorated the milestone in fine style with relatives and some of her closest friends.

“Overwhelmed with love and gratitude. Thankful for all the blessings, lessons, reasons and seasons. I cannot express how happy I am for this next chapter in life,” Ashanti captioned a photo on Instagram.

 

“Thank all of you guys for the endless love and support throughout all of these years. The ups and downs the ins and outs the friends and foes,” Ashanti wrote. “Everything happens for a reason and in Gods time. Thank you guys for all of your birthday wishes I truly appreciate you so much. Love y’all.”

While relishing in her new milestone, Ashanti took quite a few snapshots to commemorate her week-long stay in Antigua.

Rapper Flo Rida was among those who journeyed to Antigua for Ashanti’s birthday festivities.

The group stayed at the Hodges Bay Resort.

According to owner Jeff Wellemeyer, since news of Ashanti’s stay was made public, three other celebrities have also announced plans to travel to Antigua and Barbuda and have made arrangements to stay at Hodges Bay.

2. Serving sexy in a metallic swimsuit

Wellemeyer said Ashanti recorded scenes for an upcoming music video during her recent vacation in Antigua. So we can expect some new music soon.
