The Euro 2024 competition has been entertaining since it commenced on Friday, June 14.

The Euro 2024 contest which is currently ongoing in Germany has shown the resilience, determination and focus of European nations at the tournament. On Tuesday, June 18, the opening rounds of the competition came to a conclusion with the Iberian nation, Portugal defeating Czech Republic in Group F.

In this article, EELive would be reviewing the performances of each group from match day one.

Group A

The first group includes the host, Germany who are the favourite to win the sect. Others in the group include the following- Scotland, Switzerland, and Hungary.

Germany got off to an impressive start after they trashed Scotland 5-1 at the commencement of the competition. Switzerland was able to defeat Hungary 3-1 in the second group game.

In the other group game, Slovenia and Denmark settled for a draw.

Group D

Wout Werghost scored the winning goal for Netherlands against Poland

The Netherlands defeated Poland 2-1 to get their competition on the way as the French national defeated Austria 1-0.

Group E

Romanian players celebrate win against Ukraine

Belgium, one of the tournament favourites suffered a shock defeat to Slovakia. Meanwhile, Ukraine also suffered a 3-0 defeat against Romania.

Group F

Arda Guler scored a stunner for Turkey in their 3-1 win against Georgia

Arda Guler inspired the Turkey national team to a 3-1 win against debutants, Georgia as a Francisco Conceicao goal in the match ensured the Portuguese ran away with all 3 points in the last minute of the game against Czech Republic.

The second round of the group stages would kickoff today, Wednesday, June 19.
