Don Jazzy Opens up on Mo’Hits Reunion Concert, Tiwa Savage and More

CEO of Mavin Records and all round music tycoon, Don Jazzy has opened up on why the Mo”Hits reunion has not happened yet. Don Jazzy also talked about how he feels after Tiwa Savage’s exit from his record label, what their relationship will look like henceforth and of course, his love life.

In a session of Pulse podcast, Loose Talk, Don Jazzy revealed that a lot of things have kept the Mo’Hits reunion concert from holding, but assured fans that it would happen soon since all members of the former band are no longer fighting.

Here’s what he said: “The good thing about this concert is that everybody is willing, there’s no animosity. Like yesterday, I went to watch Avengers (Endgame), as I got to the private viewing session, I saw D’Banj and his wife. Last week, we were together… Before, there was wahala (laughs), but now, everybody is willing.

“I just feel like the bag (opportunity to make the money) has always been there. People have offered us money from then till now… I have a bunch of things I’m doing now, he (D’Banj) has a bunch things; like he’s supposed to drop an EP soon, after he dropped ‘Shine.’ Wande (Coal) has been busy touring.

“But I’m a creative… I want to concert to mean something. That’s why we did Mavin concert when we did Mavin concert, and the next year, I did not bother to do the Mavin concert. There was money to do it, but we had no hits at the time to perform there (at the concert). Dapo (D’Banj) and I have been talking and maybe I feel we need to release a project first.

On his future relationship with Tiwa Savage, Jazzy said she is still his business partner despite her not being signed to his record label anymore.

He said: “It’s obvious to everybody, it was an epic journey. I don’t necessarily even feel like now because you’ve signed to Universal, to everybody it just looks like she’s gone to the land beyond beyond. I don’t understand, we’re still business partners, there’s still catalogues that we share, that she’s still going to be receiving royalties from for the rest of her life or whatever.”

“The business was dope, and she’s actually one of my favourite business partners of all time. I mean, myself and D’Banj worked together for eight years and one year, Tiwa would have been eight years too as well. It was beautiful, she was understanding from the get-go till now,” he added.

On a lighter note, the husky voiced record producer states emphatically that he is in presently in a serious relationship when asked about his love life. “No I’m not free, no I have a babe, a serious babe actually,” he said.
