DJ Cuppy Joins George Floyd’s Protesters in London

Florence Otedola, a Nigerian DJ better known as Cuppy, was among several demonstrators who thronged the streets of London to protest the recent killing of George Floyd, a black American.

The 28-year-old DJ took to her social media page on Sunday to share pictures of herself and other #BlackLivesMatter activists protesting injustice against blacks.

In the post, Cuppy said she decided to join the protest because she would never be able to live with herself if she didn’t.

“I honestly thought of so many reasons to not protest, but the truth is I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I didn’t go and support! Isaiah 1:17,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Straight after my radio show today, I joined my brothers and sisters who are protesting against racial injustice faced by black people globally.”

The daughter of Femi Otedola, billionaire businessman, also pledged to stand against gender-based violence and sexual assault in Nigeria.

“I’m also taking this moment to stand against gender-based violence and sexual assault taking place in Nigeria. Together we must do better Cc: @CuppyFoundation #BlackLivesMatter #SayNoToRape,” she added.

Among other celebrities who have joined the protest is John Boyega who spoke passionately to thousands of protesters last week before they marched towards the residence of Boris Johnson, prime minister of UK.

At one point in the protest, John Boyega spoke about the possibility of losing his acting career, saying: “I’m speaking to you from my heart. Look, I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this, but f*ck that.”
