Veteran Nollywood filmmaker and former presidential aspirant, Victor Okhai has been elected president of the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN).
In an election held on March 6, Okhai emerged winner with 100 votes out of the 151 total votes cast.
Incumbent vice-president McCollins Chidebe emerged second with 47 votes. The other contestants Yinka Akanbi and Kehinde Soaga got 3 and 1 vote respectively.
Prior to his emergence as president, Okhai has worked in various sectors of the industry including distribution and film production. The filmmaker is also one of the guild’s co-founders.
The Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) is an entertainment guild that serves as the umbrella for film and television directors in the Nigerian motion picture industry.
