The legendary Diana Ross has just announced she’s releasing a new album titled ‘Thank You‘.

The album would be her first album in 15 years and her first piece of original material in 2002 years. Thank You, written during the pandemic enforced lockdown, also boasts a variety of contemporary producers including Grammy award-winning producer and songwriter, Jack Antonoff. It’s the follow-up to Ross’s 2006 album, I Love You, and was recorded entirely in her home studio.

A statement from Ross reads,

“This collection of songs is my gift to you with appreciation and love. I am eternally grateful that I had the opportunity to record this glorious music at this time. I dedicate this songbook of love to all of you, the listeners. As you hear my voice you hear my heart.”

Diana Ross co-wrote the 13 songs on the album with collaborators. Some of the contributing artists to the album include Jimmy Napes (who’s worked with Mary J Blige, Alicia Keys and Sam Smith), Tayla Parx (Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato), and also Spike Stent (Björk, Madonna).

A press release said the album “offers a powerful, inclusive musical message of love and togetherness” and also that “with its songs of happiness, appreciation, and joy, it wholeheartedly acknowledges that we are in this all together”.

Thank You will be the soul legend’s 25th album, following 2006’s I Love You, a collection of covers of classic love songs. Her last album of original material, Every Day Is a New Day, dropped in 1999.

Thank You is scheduled for release on September 10, 2021 through Decca Records / Universal Music Group. The title track and first single,” Thank You,” is now available for streaming and download.
