Demi Lovato has released her latest single, titled Commander in Chief, and, as the title suggests, it’s about President Donald Trump. The anthemic pop song repeatedly criticizes the president.
“Commander in chief, honestly / if I did the things you do, I couldn’t sleep,” she sings. Later, she adds, “We’re in a state of crisis / People are dying, while you line your pockets deep.”
What’s most iconic about this song is that it ties in nicely with the #EndSARS protests currently going on in Nigeria.
The song is produced by FINNEAS and co-written by Demi Lovato, Julia Michaels, FINNEAS, Justin Tranter, and Eren Cannata.
“Please join me and vote in this year’s election,” Lovato wrote in a statement to her fans; pointing to I Will Vote’s website.
In the music video, Demi Lovato features diverse races, cultures, and identities of America; from Black people to Native Americans to Asians, the LGBTQ community, plus-size people, Sikhs, the disabled, and so on.
Demi Lovato is one of many American celebrities that have been very vocal about wanting Commander in Chief Donald Trump out of office this year.
With policies and actions that have hurt and killed millions of Americans over the past four years; a victory for Donald Trump would mean the death of America’s identity as the archetype of a true democracy.
