Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, Inc, an American electric vehicle and clean energy company, has joined the #DeleteFacebook train; against Mark Zuckerberg’s multinational invasive social network platform.

Prior to this, there has been a protracted movement seeking to have Zuckerberg split his social networking website; with Facebook having reported multiple privacy issues, including a major hack.

Chris Hughes, a co-founder of Facebook, had earlier called for the split of Facebook. Hughes added that the network has stifled innovative startups and competitors with its dominating strategy.

Musk, replying to an anti-Facebook tweet from Sacha Cohen, a British film producer, joined the fray and describe Facebook as “lame.”

“We don’t let 1 person control the water for 2.5 billion people. We don’t let 1 person control electricity for 2.5 billion people,” Cohen wrote on Twitter.

“Why do we let 1 man control the information seen by 2.5 billion people? Facebook needs to be regulated by governments, not ruled by an emperor!”

#DeleteFacebook It’s lame, Elon Musk reacted to the tweet.

Apparently, Musk and Cohen are not the only celebrities who seem to have a problem with the social networking giant. Stephen King and Mark Hamill have also expressed their disdain for it.

A while back, Facebook agreed to pay $550 million towards settling a class-action lawsuit regarding its use of facial recognition technology.

Unfortunately for Zuckerberg, this had come on the back of a federal lawsuit filed in Illinois in 2015. Allegedly, the social media giant violated a state law protecting residents’ biometric information.

Aside from data leaks, Zuckerberg had admitted that his social network scans the content of private messages after detecting that “people were trying to spread sensational messages”.
