Davido features in official soundtrack of 2022 World Cup

Nigerian afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has been featured in an official soundtrack of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The musician was featured alongside Trinidad Cardona and AISHA. The soundtrack is titled ‘Hayya Hayya’ (Better Together). Davido announced this on Twitter, stating,

“I’m honoured to be featured on the Official @FIFAWorldCup 2022 Soundtrack.”

The soundtrack will be performed live for the first time today at the draw ceremony.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be held in Qatar from November 21 to December 18, 2022. Making it the first tournament not to be held in the middle of the year. The timeframe of the tournament has also been reduced to about 28 days. It will be the first World Cup ever held in the Arab world, and the second World Cup to be held exclusively in Asia. Following the 2002 tournament in South Korea and Japan.

The tournament will be the last to include 32 teams, with a 48-team tournament. In the United States, Mexico, and Canada set for 2026.

Davido’s participation is also a historic event, as he is now the first Nigerian artiste to feature in an official FIFA World Cup final soundtrack.
