American rapper, Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, known professionally as DaBaby has released a cover of Nigerian Superstar, Wizkid’s hit song, Essence.
DaBaby shot an official video for the two minute freestyle and posted it on his YouTube channel.
Dababy posted the video only a few hours ago. It has over 700,000 views and about 7,900 comments. This number is expected to increase with time.

Wizkid released the original version of the song, Essence, featuring Nigerian alte act Temi’s, in his Made in Lagos album on October 30, 2020.
Since its release, Essence has been a fan favorite across the world. Canadian musician, Justin Bieber even tagged it ‘the song of the summer’. Bieber sang in the remix of the song and a video was shot to this accord.
The original version has since moved into the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. This is the second time Wizkid is on this chart.
In 2016, he was on the chart as a featured act, alongside Kyla, on Drake’s “One Dance,” which was No. 1 for a then-record-tying 18 weeks. This is Tems first appearance on the chart.
The remix of the song holds the number seven position on Apple Music’s Top 100: Nigeria.
On August 31, 2021, Essence featuring Tems became the most searched song on the music search platform, Shazam.
