American festival, Lollapalooza, removed rapper, Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, best known as DaBaby, from  it’s Sunday line-up. This is over derogatory comments by the rapper about people living with HIV and Aids as well as homophobic statements on gay marriage.

According to the festival, it “was founded on diversity, inclusivity, respect, and love.”
“With that in mind, DaBaby will no longer be performing at Grant Park tonight.”

The Chicago festival stages a four-day event. This event attracts up to 400,000 people annually. The concert required goers to show a negative test on sunday. It also required those who could not to show proof of vaccination before gaining entry into the concert.

Earlier, Eelive reported that the Ohio born rapper faced condemnation for his comments on HIV and gay marriage. Many described them as homophobic and derogatory. He made these comments on 25 July, at Rolling Loud festival in Miami. Dababy encouraged the audience to put their cell phone lights up. He verbally excluded those who were HIV-positive or were gay men who had sex in car parks.

In addition to this, the 29 year old also claimed that HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases would “make you die in two or three weeks”.

Reacting to this, Lollapalooza informed rapper Young Thug would fill DaBaby’s slot on Sunday night.

The award winning rapper seemed apologetic in a video on Wednesday. The rapper stated “Don’t Fight Hate With Hate. My apologies for being me the same way you want the freedom to be you.”
