Pitchfork Music Festival 2020 is no longer holding this month due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which is not slowing down. The three-day festival was scheduled to take place on the weekend of July 17 at Union Park in Chicago.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Run The Jewels, and The National were to headline the event; with Big Thief, Angel Olsen, Sharon Van Etten, Danny Brown, Thundercat, Kim Gordon, Phoebe Bridgers, and others lower down the bill.
In a statement, Pitchfork said that they’re planning to run the festival again in 2021. “It can be pretty daunting to think about the future of live music right now, but know that we are fully committed to bringing Pitchfork Music Festival back in 2021, if the public health situation allows for it,” the statement reads.

“In the meantime, we urge everyone to follow local health department guidelines. We are in this together, and, if we all do our part, we’ll celebrate next year in person,” they concluded.
Pitchfork says that they intend to reach out to all ticket holders with details on how to obtain a refund.
The Pitchfork Music Festival is one of many music and film festivals not holding due to fears of further spreading the COVID-19 pandemic in America; where it currently has one of the worst casualties worldwide.
