Guinness world record holder, Kafayat ‘Kaffy‘ Shafau, suggests mandatory mental health evaluation for couples before marriage.
She also suggested couples therapy and drug tests for aspiring married couples.
According to her, it’s harder to get a driver’s license than a marriage certificate in Nigeria, leading to many failed marriages.
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, she emphasizes the need for a comprehensive program on human behavioral sciences before marriage.
She said, “We can’t live in a society that issues you marriage certificates easier than driver’s licenses.
Kaffy shared her personal experience of her failed marriage with Joseph Ameh, attributing it to the lack of education from her parents.
She believes it’s essential to go beyond parental views and acquire proper education about marriage beforehand.
“I was not educated enough for marriage and a lot of us aren’t. Our parents didn’t prepare us enough for marriage It’s now so easy to get into marriage that’s why it keeps crashing”, she disclosed.
Kaffy has been open about her failed marriage on previous occasions.
In 2022, she expressed gratitude for the failure, stating that she gained clarity.
She also discussed the matter on her podcast, Justkaffy, revealing her continued friendship with her ex-husband.
