Nigerian comedian, Cute Abiola, has regained his from from the custody of the navy.
He regained freedom after spending weeks in custody for violating the armed forces social media policy.
Spokesperson of the navy, Saluman Dahun, said in a statement that the comedian was released to serve his punishment.
Furthermore, he punishment according to him will see the comedian monitor those “clearing gutters” in the navy barrack for one month.
He said “Yes, he’s been released. But he has been given ‘extra duty’ as a form of punishment. By that, it means he would be in charge of coordinating the hygiene of the barracks for a month.
In November, Nigerian Navy said in a statement that it arrested Cute Abiola for alleging breaching the armed forces social media policy.
This comes after Mr Macaroni raised an alarm over the sudden disappearance of his fellow comedian.
The statement read; “The attention of the navy has been drawn to an online news story claiming naval personnel OSCOMP Abdulgafar AA; who incidentally is a popular comedian known as Cute Abiola, has gone missing.
“The Nigerian Navy wishes to categorically debunk this false news report currently trending online.
“OSCOMP Abdulgafar is currently under custody in his unit for breaching the armed forces social media policy and refusal to obey particular orders.
“The Nigerian navy wishes to avail itself this incident to remind its personnel to comply with the provisions of the armed forces social media policy in their usage of social media platforms.
“The Policy, amongst others, is emplaced to protect their personal safety and security; as well as the information integrity of the activities of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.”
