Chrissy Teigen shared on social media that she suffered a miscarriage after being hospitalized. The model and author who was pregnant with her third child for husband John Legend said she had been admitted into the hospital for excessive bleeding after weeks on bed rest.

In an Instagram post, Teigen shared a series of photos of herself and husband, singer John Legend, in the hospital after the miscarriage. The 34-year-old model penned a lengthy caption revealing the heartbreaking news.

“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” Teigen began. “We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”

Teigen, who announced her pregnancy in August, went on to reveal that they had already started to call “this little guy in my belly” Jack; even though she and Legend typically wait to name their children “until the last possible moment after they’re born”.

“To our Jack – I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications; that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive,” she continued. “We will always love you.”

Added Legend, 41, in a tweet: “We love you, Jack.”

Teigen previously said she was about halfway through her pregnancy. She also took a moment to thank those who have sent “positive energy, thoughts and prayers”; adding, “We feel all of your love and truly appreciate you.”

“We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles; for all the amazing things we’ve been able to experience. But every day can’t be full of sunshine,” Teigen wrote. “On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it.”
