Former Disney actor Chris Tavarez has been charged with domestic violence because of an alleged violent incident with his girlfriend.
The 27-year-old was charged with one count of felony domestic violence with a prior conviction, according to TMZ .
Domestic Violence
Earlier this month Tavarez was arrested following an altercation where he allegedly pushed his girlfriend. As a result, she hit her head. Police officers were called but Tavarez had fled the scene. His girlfriend was claimed to have marks on her body but refused to be treated.
The 21 year old woman says after the brutal attack, she was hospitalized and diagnosed with a concussion. She says in her legal filling:
“Chris, started picking a fight with me which started out of the blue. He started yelling in my face things like ‘shut the f*up and b*h’. I got up to the bed and (he) grabbed me with both arms and pushed me against a wall. He then put both hands around my neck. I immediately started crying. I was able to get away and go to the bedroom.”
Chris Taravez was arrested two days later. He was booked for felony domestic violence before being released on $100,000 bail.
Previous Convictions
Taravez have had similar charges in the past and could be starring at a tougher sentence if found guilty. In 2018, he took a plea deal after initially being charged with two counts of spousal battery. He plead no contest to one of the counts and the second was dismissed.
As a result, he had to serve 180 days in jail, complete a one year Domestic Treatment program and pay a fine. He was also ordered to stay away from the victim. As part of the sentence, Taravez was also put on 36 months of summary probation, which could mean this recent charge violates that.
Chris Taravez has been cast in several movies including Big Momma’s House 2, and he has a recurring role on Tyler Perry’s television series, Meet the Browns. His big break came when he was cast for the lead role of Lance in the Disney Channel original movie, Avalon High.
