American pop singer Chris Brown accuses the Los Angeles Police Department for harassing him during his yard sale. Chris Brown revealed that the cops from the LA Police were trying to shut down his event.

On Tuesday, the singer took to Instagram to reveal his home address in Tarzana, California. The pop star was trying to sell high-end designer items, some of which he has worn in music videos and at red carpet events.

Brown offered the items at discounted prices. A portion of the proceeds was to go towards non-profit organizations that Chris Brown supports.

Since Brown announced the yard sale via Twitter, thousands of fans in California have flocked to his address to buy some of his merch. Brown has raised a lot of money so far.

However, things took an unfortunate turn when the LA police stepped in. The LAPD attempted to shut it down using a law that doesn’t exist.

According to TMZ, Chris Brown was visited by an LA Police officer on Tuesday. The officer informed him that he couldn’t have a garage sale because he didn’t have a permit.

Cops also expressed fear that the crowds will be too large, saying they are concerned about “the impact [of the yard sale] on the community” and “the safety of the people who are there.”

Brown’s lawyer got involved and told cops that permits are not required in the City of L.A. The LA Police Department was trying to shut down the event over a law that does not exist.

The attention Chris Brown received from the police over this yard sale was like he committed a crime. It is just a perpetuation of the villainization of black men.

Lucky for him, he has lawyers to defend him. So the yard sale will continue operating legally.
