Budding unisex brand, Henri Uduku recently launched its 2019 Resort collection, tagged “Ja Ara E“. The new catalogue is a series of loose fitting African designs for when you decide to be “free”.
The eponymous brand says the newly unveiled collection is inspired by one of the designer’s childhood memories; a “hideous” kaftan his parents had a local tailor make him for Christmas while growing up.
“My inspiration for the new collection came in an uninspiring brown Adire print that he very much disliked,” Henri Uduku commented.
The “Ja Ara E” collection closely follows the recently shown SS19 collection with the brand’s continuous use of African Tie Dye fabrics (Adire) but with the marbling technique. For detailing, the brand has the Fulani inspired paper embroidery as accents.
