Charly Boy’s Daughter Dewy Oputa Responds to Anti-LGBTQ Critics

Dewy Oputa

Dewy Oputa, the daughter of maverick musician Charly Boy, has replied critics of her sexual orientation. In an Instagram post, Dewy, who came out as gay, fired back at critics; saying she does not want fake love or fake support around her.

Dewy, who is a costume designer and stylist, said she has been with her girlfriend SJ for three years. “So a person in my inner circle, that claimed to support me and the LGBTQ community in the past, now has an issue with me being public about my relationship,” she wrote on Thursday.

“They even had the audacity to tell me, “Stop posting pictures of you and THAT GIRL. It makes me uncomfortable!” (Now mind you, my partner and I have been together for almost 3 years.)”

Dewy expressed her outrage at the bigotry and concluded with a video asking everyone that disapproved to “go and hug transformer”.

Dewy Oputa has been very open about her sexuality. Her famous father Charly Boy recently spoke about how she told him that she was a lesbian. According to him, he was proud and in fact, grateful.

He wrote on Friday, “About 4yrs ago, my last Princess of the house called me from America. From her tone, I was bracing up for whatever she was about to tell me; especially when she kept saying to me, ‘daddy promise me you won’t get mad at me, or give up on me.’”

“As a matter of fact, I now look back and find that I am grateful for the experience of having a gay or lesbian child. Nothing can come between me and any of my beautiful children.”

Oputa added that it was stupid to think having a gay child meant a parent had failed.
