The charges against American rapper, Daystar Peterson, popularly known as Tory Lanez in the shooting of fellow rapper, Megan Pete, known professionally as Megan Thee Stallion have been upheld by a Los Angeles County judge.
The 29 year old was accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion’s feet after a disagreement in Hollywood last summer.
In a court sitting on Tuesday, a Los Angeles police detective , Ryan Stogner revealed that Lanez had shouted, “Dance, bitch, dance!” at hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion before shooting the ground near her feet. He said,
“[Megan] observed Mr. Peterson holding a firearm, and then she observed him start to shoot. Megan immediately felt pain to her feet, observed blood, fell to the ground. And then crawled to an adjacent driveway of a residence. … She described her injuries as bleeding profusely.”
The detective also noted that Lanez apologized for shooting Megan. He also “offered her money and begged her to please not say anything.”
Megan also told the detective that Lanez made “a reference to the fact he was already on probation.”
The detective further disclosed that Megan initially claimed that she was injured after stepping on broken glass. She later admitted that it was a gun injury. She claimed that she said it was glass because of the political climate. Megan was afraid cops might shoot Tory if she said there was a gun in the car.” (sic)
In October 2020, The 29 year old rapper was charged with one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. However, in November 2020 Lanez pleaded not guilty to both charges.
If convicted, Lanez may face 22 years and eight months in prison.
