Nigerian celebrities have graced the funeral of the mother of musician Wizkid who passed away on August 18, 2023.
Her funeral was held with a wake at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos. It was followed by a funeral service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Victoria Island.
Wizkid was visibly heartbroken during the proceedings, and he was seen holding a candle alongside his siblings.
A multitude of entertainers, family, friends, and industry acquaintances, including Osas Ighodaro, Rudeboy, Tony Elumelu, Banky W, Tiwa Savage, Oba Elegushi, and Kwam 1, attended the funeral to support Wizkid.
Other celebrities present included Mercy Eke, Kim Oprah, Faith Morey, Khloe, Eniola Badmus, Layole Oyatogun, and Pretty Mike. Jane Balogun, born in 1957, is survived by her husband, Muniru Olatunji Balogun, and four children.
Wizkid, who grew up in a polygamous home with a Muslim father and Christian mother, is known for his deep affection for his mother.
He expressed this through his 2014 song ‘Mummy Mi,’ dedicated to mothers worldwide.
